Elementary Schools:
Promotion and retention of students shall be based upon their mastery of course objectives. Teachers in grades 1-5 shall record and report all grades on the proper forms approved by the District. Grading scales for elementary teachers will be uniform throughout the District. Excused absences, conduct, and behavioral grades will be reported independently from academic achievement.
A minimum of ten (10) grades per student per nine week term shall be recorded in each teacher's grade book for Reading and Math in grades 1-5, Spelling in grades 2-4, and English in grades 2-5. A minimum of five (5) grades per student per nine week term shall be recorded in each teacher's grade book for Science and Social Studies in grades 3-5. The following grading scale shall be used in Reading and Math in grades 1-5, Spelling in grades 2-4, English in grades 2-5, and, Science and Social Studies in grades 3-5.

A progress report will be sent to parents at each 4 1/2 week period. Parent-Teacher conferences shall be encouraged and effort shall be made to arrange such conferences as required to insure student progress.
Upper Elementary, Middle, and High Schools:

Grading scales for secondary teachers will be uniform throughout the District. Excused absences, conduct, and behavioral grades will be reported independently from academic achievement.
A minimum of ten (10) grades per student, per nine week period shall be recorded in each teacher's grade book for all academic courses.
Grades shall be issued four times each school year in all classes and in all school. The following reporting code is to be used:
